Organized by UZOR, a successful two-day media capacity-building training on freedom of expression and journalist safety in the modern environment was held on June 7 and 8 at the Bristol Hotel.

During two intensive and content-rich days, participants had the opportunity to thoroughly familiarize themselves with key international and European standards, the legislative framework, as well as concrete threats that journalists face daily, through presentations, group work, and discussions.

The first day was dedicated to setting the context and analyzing threats, including practical exercises based on court cases. Participants identified key challenges and exchanged experiences in an interactive group discussion.

On the second day, the focus was on the safety of journalists on assignment, with special attention to threats targeting female journalists. The training also included group risk assessment exercises, followed by a final discussion and exchange of recommendations.

The training was conducted as part of the project “Effective Prevention and Protection of Journalists in Montenegro,” jointly implemented by the Association for Responsible and Sustainable Development (UZOR) and the Society of Professional Journalists of Montenegro (DPNCG) in cooperation with the Hanns Seidel Foundation, with financial support from the European Union (EU) through the EU Delegation in Podgorica and the Ministry of Public Administration.
