The Society of Professional Journalists of Montenegro (DPNCG), in collaboration with the Association for Responsible and Sustainable Development (UZOR) and the Hanns Seidel Foundation, announces a CALL FOR PROPOSALS for the creation of 10 articles/reports addressing attacks, threats, and intimidation of journalists.
We invite journalists from media outlets registered in Montenegro (national and local) and those with correspondents in Montenegro to submit their proposals on topics they wish to cover. The topics should address and/or critically examine violence against journalists, clearly specifying the research methodology, potential interviewees, and how the article/report could contribute to improving case prosecution or implementing the recommendations of the Commission for Monitoring Investigations of Attacks on Journalists.
Purpose of the Call
The goal of this call is to contribute to achieving justice for victims of attacks and threats, as well as their families, and to support the implementation of the recommendations of the Commission for Monitoring Investigations of Attacks on Journalists.
Articles can be prepared for print and online publications, as well as for TV or radio features/programs.
To promote advanced reporting methods and encourage the resolution of cases of violence against journalists, submissions must align with the principles of Solution Journalism (SoJo). Articles should focus on a solution to a specific problem supported by evidence, detailing how the solution was initiated and implemented, and discussing its limitations where applicable.
Criteria for Articles
Submitted articles/reports must meet the following four criteria:
- The solution must be the central focus of the story.
- The problem must be explained with a realistic proposal emphasizing the solution.
- Highlight lessons learned from the solution and identify takeaways for replication.
- Address challenges encountered in finding and implementing the solution.
Evaluation and Selection Process
A Proposal Evaluation Commission will review submissions and select the best proposals, ensuring diverse media representation to the extent possible. Only selected candidates will be contacted with further details regarding collaboration.
Each article/report will be overseen by an editor, with a gross honorarium of 300 euros per article/report.
Submission Details
Topic proposals should be sent via email to drustvoprofesionalnihnovinara@gmail.com with the subject line “Call for SoJo Topic” no later than March 15, 2024, at 4:00 PM.
The articles will be published across various media outlets, as well as on the websites of DPNCG and UZOR. Key excerpts will be shared on social media platforms.
This call, “Stories Contributing to Resolving Attacks on Journalists,” is organized as part of the project “Effective Prevention and Protection of Journalists in Montenegro,” jointly implemented by UZOR and DPNCG in collaboration with the Hanns Seidel Foundation and financially supported by the European Union through the EU Delegation in Podgorica.
